White with a blast of textile colour

Two recent images I love from My Scandinavian Retreat.

Keep up the great work!! Love it.

Reflecting on the past ...

It's hard to believe we've been in our new house for only 18 months.  It seems so so much longer.  And it's no wonder, given how busy we have been since we moved.

So I thought it might be a good time to reflect on our last renovation, back in Roseberry St.  Many great memories!!

How beautiful ...

What a beautiful day it turned out to be today.

We spent it enjoying a birthday party for a very special girl and her friends.

Then came home and enjoyed the backyard listening to the good vibrations at the showgrounds.  Definitely an "ahhhhh this is the life" moment.

And tonight I found a beautiful beautiful beautiful blog post from my poppet.  What a gorgeous girlie nursery.

Favourite things - Matt Gibson

I have a lot of "favourite things" when it comes to buildings and design.

Here is one of my favourite melbourne architects - Matt Gibson.  He is often featured in House magazine.

There are several things I like about his designs.  Starting with his philoshpy.

"Philosophically the practice aims to engage with issues of culture and habitat through rigorous interrogation and a belief in design as a means of addressing both spatial and programmatic concerns within a wider historical and social context. MGA+D is interested in architectural spaces that address the primal experiential nature in people, through basic attractions to light, material and patterns of movement. The spaces are concerned with formally consistent compositions of volumes & elements where interior and exterior are conceived as an integrated idea. This involves a commitment and close attention to the detailing of scale, surface, threshold and junction and the rigorous exploration of the zones between what has come before and what is new."

I think it's the last sentence that sums him up for me.  Here are some of my favourite images.

Frustration

frustration [frʌˈstreɪʃən]
n
1. the condition of being frustrated
2. something that frustrates
3. (Psychology) Psychol
a.  the prevention or hindering of a potentially satisfying activity
b.  the emotional reaction to such prevention that may involve aggression

Whilst I don't feel any agression, I do feel frustrated at the moment.  Our local council has rejected our plan for the new shed.  Frustrated - that's because they had previously verbally agreed to it, but have since had a change of management (sounds too familiar to my work).

I'm struggling to find a bright side to this at the moment, which is unlike me really.  But of course there are far worse things that could happen.

He he - it all works out in the long run doesn't it.  Back to the drawing board :)
